Because shipping bullshit is just as much about the characters as it is about gameplay? And there's maybe just a bit more affection in the Heavy's in-game dialogue towards the Medic versus the Soldier's?

That and Soldier/Medic is a lot more common than Heavy/Anyone-other-than-the-Medic-at-all. Give fatty some more love eh?
